A British visitor
”We halted at the most curious village called Gaardsjord, on the hillside overlooking the lake, - the most lovely situation imaginable. The houses, and even the barns and outbuildings were all highly and grotesquely carved”. This was the reaction of the English tourist Biddulph after he visited Rauland in 1849. At Telemarkstunet you will find copies of Gardsjordstoga and Torvetjønnloftet, with their finely carved decorations, as well as a storehouse, barns and other traditional buildings. Come and visit to get a taste of the atmosphere experienced by Biddulph in 1849!
